In order to provide opportunities for professional improvement, a "Classified Student Teaching Leave of Absence" for the 2025-2026 school-year is available to classified employees to complete their student teaching requirements at a college or university for earning teaching licensure in the State of Kansas.
An applicant must have performed at least two (2) years of continuous service in our district immediately prior to the commencement of the proposed student teaching leave of absence. Interested applicants for the 2025-2026 school year must submit their completed application no later than March 31, 2025.

Sabbatical Application and Information
Sabbatical Leaves are authorized only for the purpose of formal, full-time or part-time study at a college university.
In order to be eligible to apply for a Sabbatical Leave, you must meet the following conditions:
- An applicant must have performed seven school years of continuous service in USD 259.
- Applicants shall not have received Sabbatical Leave during the seven years immediately preceding the application.
- Each applicant must agree to sign a “Statement of Intent” to return to service in USD 259 immediately upon termination of Sabbatical Leave.
- Each applicant must agree to sign a commitment to repay the amount paid during the Sabbatical Leave on a prorated basis in the event the employee fails to return to USD 259 and fails to perform services under a contract of employment for a period of one year after return from Sabbatical Leave.
In addition to the above, you should review the conditions regarding Sabbatical Leaves as set forth in the Teacher Agreement.
