Magnet Schools
Applications for the 25-26 School Year will be available on October 7.
What is a Magnet School?
Magnet schools are free public elementary and secondary schools of choice that operate within the Wichita Public Schools - unlike private and charter schools, which are completely separate institutions. Each magnet school has one or two specific themes that guide instruction and culture within the building. Magnet school themes do not replace the standard district curriculum, but rather they serve to enhance instruction by weaving the theme into all subjects. Magnet school themes in the Wichita Public Schools include, but are not limited to:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
- Performing Arts
- Media Arts
- Leadership
- Communications
- Environmental Science
