ESOL Enrollment Center

The Multilingual Education Center (MES) is the primary hub in the Wichita Public Schools for students and families who are new to the district and speak a language other than English. Here, students undergo English language proficiency assessments to determine the most suitable program for their skills. Parents receive assistance with enrollment paperwork, while staff members are on hand to address inquiries about Wichita Public Schools and offer guidance on community resources. The Newcomer Intake Center operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 P

Language Line

You may reach the Language Line at 316-866-8000 (Spanish), 316-866-8003 (Vietnamese), and 316-866-8045 (for any other language). The Language Line staff is available to assist families and school personnel from 7:30–5:00 Monday through Friday.

Wichita Family Learning Program

For parents and adult family members of ESOL or Title I programs, the Wichita Family Learning Program provides a variety of free adult ESOL classes across the district. Childcare is provided for all classes, and Kid's Club Homework and Tutoring assistance is provided for students whose parents are participating in evening classes. Contact 866-8029 for more information. District Translation Services

Migrant Services

This federal program helps migrant children access the same educational opportunities as all other children. It provides additional services beyond those offered by other local and federal programs to ensure that qualifying students succeed academically. Migrant students are defined as those who have moved across school district boundaries in the past three years for work related to agriculture or meat processing. They are eligible for services from ages 3 through 21.

District Translation Services

We offer on-site interpretation services for parents, students, and school personnel, as well as written translations for communication with parents. Additionally, we utilize the Language Line. Translation and interpretation services are provided in Spanish and Vietnamese. We also have access to interpretation in many other languages through various additional resources as needed.

Early Childhood Enrollment

Early Childhood (Pre-K) enrollment is conveniently available at MES. For further details, please visit our Early Childhood website or call 316-866-8038.
