The Wichita Public Schools received a $47,500 grant from Discover Financial Services to provide materials to support high school financial literacy courses for the 2017-18 school year. The grant will impact more than 3,200 students in 8 high schools.
The Kansas Supreme Court ruled it will allow the state’s new school funding law to go into effect while it decides whether the funding formula meets adequacy requirements. Chief Financial Officer Susan Willis shared that information with the Board of Education during its June 19 meeting.

The Board of Education approved changing start and end times for schools for the 2017-18 school year, based on survey feedback from employees, parents and students. The start and end times will move up by 10 minutes for all schools.
