Bus Tracking App
In partnership with First Student, we have a bus tracking app for families called FirstView which helps track your student's bus in real time.
Download the App through Google Play or the Apple App Store by searching “FirstView”.
When setting up the App, you will be prompted to:
- Select your state (Kansas)
- Select your district (Wichita)
- Type in your student ID and security code. (To obtain your student ID and security code, contact your child’s school.)

Bus Rules
It is the right of every student being transported on a bus to receive this service in the safest possible manner. In order to insure this, it is necessary for all students to know, and to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the State and the local Board of Education. Below are copies of the CHAMPS and BUS RIDE posters that will be posted on each bus with additional student expectations following. Parents are urged to help their children understand the importance of these rules as they relate to their personal safety. The bus ride is an extension of the school day. School and classroom conduct is expected at the bus stop as well as on the bus.

Does a student need a bus ticket to ride Wichita Transit to school?
Students who qualify for a school bus and are assigned to a Wichita Transit bus, will get a sticker from their school to put onto their student ID. This sticker is the bus pass. The student must have their ID with the sticker every bus ride and MUST show it to the driver upon entering the bus. It works to/from school and any other time they want to use Transit in the community.
Will other community members ride the transit bus?
What keeps children safe on the transit bus?
The buses are safe and clean. The interior is disinfected often. The buses have five cameras and the drivers are trained to keep their passengers safe. The drivers have an emergency button too. Drivers can ask for help from their dispatch team if they should ever need it. Transit buses are also a "SafePlace". SafePlace is a local program that enables kids to get to a safe place when they feel they are lost or in danger.
