When a student is unable to attend school due to a medical issue or injury Wichita Public Schools has a service we offer these students referred to as Homebound. This service is intended to be for a limited period of time. Our purpose is to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and home. We will help the student facilitate their return to a regular school setting as quickly as possible.

When a student is receiving Homebound service all classroom rules and regulations, as well as school district policies, apply. The longest time a student can be on Homebound is nine calendar weeks. If more time is needed, we will evaluate each individual case and it will require additional medical or psychological information.
