Is school closed or delayed today?
Notice of all closures or delays due to weather are posted on the WPS home page. The Wichita Public Schools does not typically make announcements that school is in session during winter weather events, only when school or activities are cancelled. If there is no announcement, then school is in session.
The following information outlets will carry updated weather and school closure information as the need warrants:
Telephone, e-mail and text updates to parents and staff through ParentLink!
ParentLink, the district's automatic phone calling system, will be used to notify parents and staff in the event there is a district-wide school closure or building-specific emergency. ParentLink will NOT be used to notify parents that school is in session on a day following a snow cancellation. Should there be any questions, parents and community members can check any one of the communication outlets listed specifically below, or contact their child's school.
PARENTS: Please make sure your contact information is up-to-date in ParentVue, the district's student information system. ParentLink pulls contact information from this source, so making sure ParentVue is accurate will allow for timely notification. Click here to learn how to update contact information.
STAFF: Notification contact information is drawn from PeopleSoft. Employees should make sure their primary and secondary contact numbers are current in order to receive emergency phone calls. Staff e-mail updates are delivered through Outlook. Click here for more information.
WPS Mobile App
Download the district's mobile app for iPhone or Android, set your preference so you receive district notifications (as well as any school-specific news you are interested in), and you will have emergency announcements sent directly to your smartphone.
Local radio and TV stations
Information will be broadcast and shared through news outlets and social media channels. Tune into your favorite local radio or television station for additional information.
