Get Involved - Be a WPS Volunteer!

Kansas Kids Fitness Day

Families and community members play a vital role in creating an effective educational experience for our students. Volunteers work in a variety of capacities in the Wichita School District. During the 2014-15 school year, volunteers logged over 101,000 hours of time to Wichita Public Schools. Volunteers contributed nearly $2,150,000 in in-kind work, based on Points of Light Foundation estimates of an average volunteer's value.

Volunteers are parents, guardians, grandparents, business partners, church congregations, USD 259 students, college students, and senior citizens. These volunteers are represented in the economic, social, racial, religious, and educational backgrounds within the Wichita community.

Volunteers serve as tutors and mentors, provide assistance in the classroom, participate as career speakers, serve as lunch buddies, read to students, assist in the library, and participate on school site councils. We are committed to offering a menu of opportunities for the community to participate in school programs. Volunteer opportunities are flexible in scheduling.

To become a volunteer in USD 259, you need to complete the volunteer registration form found on this website. Online registration is available, and is the easiest way to begin making an impact. Once your have completed the simple form, click submit, and within 24-hours your information will be sent to school staff at the building(s) you indicated on your form.
