About S.T.E.A.L.T.H. Afterschool
Science. Technology. Engineering, Art, Leadership, Technology and Health is dedicated to offering academic assistance and enrichment activities in an afterschool setting. Students will explore STEM, Fine Arts, and Health and Wellness enrichment activities in an engaging environment that gets them excited to learn! S.T.E.A.L.T.H Afterschool Students also have the opportunity improve their math and reading skills through structured and engaging grade level tutoring and homework sessions. Students will build on their 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking throughout the program. S.T.E.A.L.T.H. Afterschool is funded by a federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. WPS was awarded this 5-year grant in July of 2017 to fund afterschool programs at specific sites. The mission of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant is to provide academic and youth development opportunities to students and their families when school is not in session. The purpose of this program is to:
- Meet state and local standards in core academic subjects
- Offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs and
- Offer literacy and other educational services to families of participating children
The S.T.E.A.L.T.H. Afterschool program currently available at 4 schools: Adams Elementary, Cleaveland Elementary, Ortiz Elementary, and Park Elementary.
