Senior Spotlight — Zac Daher, Northwest High School
Senior Spotlight — Zac Daher
Zac Daher, senior at Northwest High School, kept a very full schedule while in high school, and he doesn’t plan on slowing down after graduation.
“I was a 3-sport athlete all four years, and honors and AP courses throughout high school, so I had to learn to balance sports with academics, and that has prepared me for the next level,” he said.
Zac loved being a part of AVID and he credits the program for getting him prepared for college.
“All the resources they give you, all the study habits and having someone constantly reminding you to stay on top of their projects, AVID really is college preparation,” he said.
He said his language arts teacher, Elizabeth Minerva, really stressed the importance of completing assignments and the value of always giving his best effort. He said he learned a lot in that class.
He tried to remain positive through the pandemic. While he didn’t like learning remote during the first semester, he knows he will benefit from having to make those adjustments.
“It threw us out into the real world early and I consider that a benefit,” he said. “Change is the only constant in life.”
Zac will attend West Point on a football scholarship. He plans to major in computer science and finance. He is interested in working in web security and earning his Masters in Business Administration while serving in the Army after graduating from West Point.
He currently runs his own online business selling athletic shoes. He plans to continue to run his business while earning his degree.
“I want to keep achieving my goals,” he said. “And it’s possible with hard work.”
