WPS high school esports teams have successful fall season

Wichita High Schools had a successful showing nationally this fall in esports, competing in the High School Esports League (HSEL) with schools from across the country.

• Southeast High School won the Central Region High School Esports League Championship in the game Valorant. This win qualifies them for the national tournament in the spring.
• North High and East High both made the top 8 in Valorant. West High and Northeast Magnet also had a great season making the national playoffs.
• Education Imagine Academy went deep in the redemption road bracket for the game Valorant with a third-place finish. They also made the central region national playoffs for the game Brawlhalla.
• Northeast Magnet made the final four in the game Overwatch 2 and East High made the top 8.
• East High finished in second place in the PlayVS league for Overwatch 2.
• In the game Rocket League, East High, Heights, and North High all made the national playoffs.
• In the game Super Smash Bros., East High competed for the championship in the PlayVS league.

“I'm so proud of how our high schools did this semester in esports,” said WPS esports lead, Clint Dayhuff. “The coaches have gone above and beyond for our gamers to give them incredible opportunities in esports and to grow this exciting sport in our district. I'm also proud of all the work our student gamers have put in to make Wichita a national powerhouse in high school esports.”
