The Wichita Public Schools will present the annual All-City Honor Concerts at Century II Concert Hall. These concerts showcase the talents of hundreds of Wichita Public Schools students ranging from grades 5-12 and represent music programs in all of the elementary, middle, and high schools. The concerts are free and open to the public. 

Select artwork by WPS middle school students will be on display in the lobby of Century II concert hall during the performances.

All-City Honor Bands Concert – Monday, Jan. 29, 7 p.m.  Four bands will perform this year, including the 11th and 12th grade high school honor band under the direction of Mr. Eric Stambaugh, Director of Bands at Hutchinson College, and the 9th and 10th grade high school honor band under the direction of Ms. Victoria Griffitt, Wichita State Uuniversity Graduate Conducting Assistant. Mr. Bret Goter, Director of Bands at Wilbur Middle School, will conduct the 8th grade honor band. Mr. Clay Butherus, Pleasant Valley Middle School Director of Instrumental Music, will

All-City Honor Orchestras Concert – Tuesday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m.  Dr. Keith Dodson, Director of Orchestras at Bethany College, will direct the high school honor orchestra. The 8th grade honor orchestra will be conducted by Mrs. Verlinda Stone, Wichita High School South Director of Orchestras. Mr. Daniel Ibarra, Truesdell Middle School Director of Orchestras, will conduct the 7th grade honor orchestra.

All-City Honor Choirs Concert – Tuesday, Feb. 20. The evening begins in the Century II Convention Hall at 6 p.m. with performances by the 5th Grade Honor Ensembles:  All-City Honor Choir under the direction of Ms. Christian Wisner, music teacher at Cleaveland Traditional Magnet Elementary School; the All-City Mallet Instrument Honor Ensemble directed by Mr. Reed Bishop, music teacher at McCollom Elementary School, and the Group Drumming Honor Ensemble under the direction of Ms. Arianne Suchy, music teacher at Minneha Core Knowledge Magnet Elementary School and Ms. Ashley Reichenborn, VILS Instructional Coach at Robinson Middle School.  At 7:30 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall, students of the All-City Middle School Honor Choir directed by Mr. Alex Underwood, Director of Choirs at Hays High School , and the All-City High School Honor Choir under the direction of Mr. Chad Ingram, Associate Professor of Choirs at Butler County Community College, will perform. 

These concerts offer students a rare opportunity to perform with other district student musicians under the direction of distinguished guest conductors and some of our most outstanding local teachers. This is truly a musical highlight and honor that many of our students will long remember. Please join us for these concerts as we celebrate the heritage and tradition, which is Wichita Public Schools Music Education.
