WPS Athletics to allow limited spectators at sporting events

WPS Athletics to allow limited spectators at sporting events

Following a vote at the Oct. 5 Board of Education meeting, the WPS Athletic Department will begin allowing limited spectators at sporting events held at district venues.

Student participants in sporting events and cheerleading, dance and marching band will each be given four spectator vouchers for each event.

In order to obtain entry into the event, the voucher must be exchanged for paid admission at the venue’s ticket booth. Admission prices will be adults $6; students 18 & under $4; 4 and under free; senior citizens are free. Children ages four and under and senior citizens will still require a voucher.

There will be no admission without a voucher. There are no special discounts including student ID, employee ID, VIP pass, district Gold Card or activity pass.

For middle school events, the host school will have a roster of all participants and the ticket booth will allow two spectators per participant.

Middle School ticket prices: Adults $2, students $1, senior citizens and children younger than school age are free.

In order to ensure the safety of those in attendance, the following safety precautions will be in place:

  • Spectators will be expected to wear a mask at all times, sit in the group they arrived with and practice social distancing from others.
  • Concession stands will not be open; unopened bottle drinks will be allowed; no outside food is allowed.
  • No student sections will be permitted.

Spectators will be expected to follow the guidelines stated above. If someone does not abide by the guidelines, they will be removed from the event.

Family members and other spectators unable to attend events in person can watch via live stream. Click here for more information on how to watch high school events.
