Senior Spotlight - Toby Dunn, Sowers Alternative High School
Toby Dunn, a senior at Sowers Alternative High School, said he likes his school and the friends that he made there. He said the people are nice and caring.
“I like them for who they are, they like me for who I am. It’s just really cool,” Toby said. “I’ve had some good times here. This school has been good to me.”
One of his favorite memories at high school was participating in the school’s talent show where he and his friend pretended to be pirates and got a pie in the face.
“We got a pie in the face because we were pie-rates,” he said.
He is part of Sowers’ Community Based Instruction program. In the afternoons, he helps in the Wichita Public Schools’ print shop where he works with the automatic coil machine that puts books together, as well as the laminator.
“I like the print shop. I really like the people that work there. They’re pretty cool,” he said.
After graduation, Toby plans to go to Dunlap Transition Campus at Chisholm to learn more life and employability skills. After that, he plans to help in his father’s food truck.
