Senior Spotlight - Isaias Hidalgo Corona, Southeast High School

Southeast High School senior Isaias Hidalgo CoronaIsaias Hidalgo Corona, senior at Southeast High School, says being a part of the Manufacturing FutureReady Center helped him find his path for his future.

“My counselor, Deanna Ruiz, recommended that I go to the FutureReady Center. I’m really glad she pushed me.”

Isaias admits that he wasn’t very motivated when he started high school and his first few years were rough. When he heard about the opportunities at the FutureReady Center, he knew it would be a good fit for him.

“It really changed my mind about school,” he said. “I’ve received my OSHA certification, and I knew once I got the certification, that would open a lot of doors for me.”

“I like riveting and sheet metal and assembly,” he said. “I like sheet metal because it’s very hands-on. You have to pay attention to details. You can’t mess up.”

Isaias also was involved in WSU Tech’s JumpStart program, which allowed him to earn some college credit while still in high school.

After he graduates, Isaias plans to be either an aircraft mechanic or a pipe welder. He said he is proud that he was able to find his passion and now knows what he wants to do for a career.

“It’s a blessing,” he said.
