Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson will visit schools on the first day

Wichita Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson will welcome students and staff to a new school year on Monday, August 15, 2022.

• Gordon Parks Academy, 7:45 a.m. – Dr. Thompson will join community partners for a Back-to- School Clap-In Parade to welcome students and provide encouragement for the year as students enter the school.
  
  
• Heights High School, 8:30 a.m. – Dr. Thompson will visit her alma mater to greet students and staff and participate in getting-to-know-you activities.
  
  
• Cloud Elementary, 9:30 a.m. – Dr. Thompson will visit the classroom of new teacher, Alexandra Gilmore. Ms. Gilmore chose to work in the Wichita Public Schools after meeting Dr. Thompson in one of her college education classes at Wichita State. She invited Dr. Thompson to visit her class to inspire her students as Dr. Thompson inspired her.
