High School students to participate in Public Safety Conference (2-9-23)
Wichita Public Schools, in partnership with the Wichita Metro Crime Commission and Wichita State University, is hosting the Youth Engagement in Public Safety conference on Thursday, February 9, 8:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. at the Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State University.
Students who are interested in public safety will learn about careers in the criminal justice and safety sectors. Sessions include learning about different careers including law enforcement, the court system, victim advocacy, emergency medical services, K-9 units and more. Breakout sessions will allow students to network with professionals and peers from around the Wichita area.
At 1 p.m., the students will participate in Stop the Bleed training by Wesley Medical Center, which teaches life-saving techniques for significant injuries that they can apply to others or themselves.
