WPS leadership seeks high school students’ opinions about being on track to graduate (4-18-23)

Wichita Public Schools Deputy Superintendent Gil Alvarez and district leadership will meet with more than 100 high school students to ask for their feedback on keeping on track to graduate on Tuesday April 18, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., at Riverfront Stadium Fidelity Suite, 275 S. McLean Blvd.

The high school students will discuss in small groups about what keeps them on track to graduate, what motivates them to stay on track, what are reasons students may get off track, how are students who are meeting academic standards recognized, among other topics. The students will share what they discussed in their groups with Mr. Alvarez and district leadership. The feedback will help shape future decisions by district leadership.

The students involved are members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SuperSAC) and other students invited to participate. Many of the suggestions from previous dialogue sessions have shaped district policies and practices, and created programs currently being used in the district’s high schools.
