Four high school choice programs offered for upcoming freshmen 

***Due to the rise of COVID cases in the community, the Showcase of Choices and Opportunities event has been cancelled.


All WPS incoming freshmen for the 22-23 school year have the opportunity to apply to one of our four high school choice programs. These programs are available to all students, regardless of home address, by completing the application processes for each. There are several upcoming times for parents to learn more about these programs, including the Showcase of Choices and Opportunities, January 20, 5-7:30 p.m. at Century II.  

East IB Diploma Program

The International Baccalaureate diploma program is a comprehensive and rigorous college-preparatory program designed to meet the needs of academically talented and highly motivated high school students. 

A parent information night is January 5, 6 – 7 p.m. at East High School, 2301 E. Douglas. The meeting will also be available live at Please contact Joy Marshall, 973-7289 with any questions.

Program applications are due January 28, 2022.

Northeast Magnet High School

Northeast Magnet High School provides a four-year program for students who want to focus their education in Science, Visual Arts, or Law/Public Service. The magnet areas, in conjunction with an academic core, present an interdisciplinary, integrated curriculum, utilizing technology and annual projects to produce a focused, well-rounded education.

Magnet applications are available at Northeast Magnet High School’s application deadline is January 28, 2022.

Northwest Early College Academy

In partnership with Friends University, ECA allows students to take classes for college credit earlier in high school. When students in the program graduate from Northwest, they will have enough college credits for the equivalent of an associate degree and can start college as a third-year student.

A parent information night will be January 10, at 7 p.m. at Northwest High School, 1220 N. Tyler.

North High School BioMed

The North High Bio-Med program is an advanced level science program that prepares students for the rigors of college and science and health-related careers.
