Pleasant Valley Middle School teacher wins Golden Apple Award

Pleasant Valley Middle School teacher wins Golden Apple Award

KAKE Golden Apple Award winner Brian Curtis Brian Curtis, a social studies teacher at Pleasant Valley Middle School, was recently surprised in his classroom with the Golden Apple Award from KAKE-TV. He received several nominations for the award over the summer from a current and former student and a fellow teacher.

“To get an award from the people you serve is what it is all about,” said Curtis. “My high school teacher, Mrs. Kerr, made me want to be a teacher because she always found ways to challenge me and get the best out of me. That is what I try and instill in the students. I want them to not only be successful students, but successful people and citizens in the community as well.”

The Golden Apple Award winners receive a Golden Apple trophy from Davis-Moore Autogroup and Meritrust Credit Union and $1,000 in school supplies from Project Teacher. The winner is featured on KAKE-TV’s Monday 5 p.m. newscast.
