Superintendent’s Challenge recognizes spring sports excellence

At the May 6 Board of Education Meeting, high school student athletes were recognized for spring sports academic excellence, and middle schools were recognized for winter sports academic excellence, by the Superintendent’s Challenge.

Teams that earned first Place:

  • Girls swimming - East
  • Boys Tennis - East
  • Boys Golf - Heights
  • Girls Soccer - Heights
  • Softball - North
  • Baseball – Southeast and South
  • Track - South

Teams were also recognized for most improved GPA: 

  • Girls swimming – Southeast
  • Boys Tennis - South
  • Boys Golf - Southeast
  • Girls Soccer – East and Heights
  • Softball - South
  • Baseball - Southeast
  • Track - South

Middle school athletes were also recognized with the Allison Middle School basketball team winning the top award

Launched in 2017, the Superintendent’s Challenge is an incentive program for students involved in athletics. The initiative has athletic teams not only compete on the field, but in the classroom as well.

Twenty sports and activities are part of the program. Schools’ teams compete for the highest grade point average. The team with the highest GPA for each sport will receive the award at the end of the season. The Overall GPA Cup will be awarded to the team with the highest GPA of all sports at the end of the school year.
