Early College Academy

Early College Academy is a program housed at Northwest High School for motivated students who are interested in completing college credits while in high school. It is an accelerated magnet program that works in partnership with Friends University. Students who complete the program will graduate high school with 57 hours/two years of college credits completed (the equivalence of an associate’s degree). Current 8th grade students currently enrolled in any USD 259 middle school are encouraged to apply. 50 incoming freshmen will be selected to begin the program in August.

 

Highlights:

  • Classes run on magnet school schedule (start time: 7 am, end time: 2:10 pm with the option of an additional class from 2:10-3:10).
  • Students interested in extracurricular activities can try out or join as a Northwest Grizzly.
  • Students more than 2.5 miles from Northwest High School will be provided transportation.
  • Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA in all coursework.
  • Freshman classes will all be held at Northwest High School campus. Students will begin to take some classes at Friends University beginning sophomore year. By senior year most classes will be at Friends University campus.
  • Transportation to and from Friends University will be provided.
