Kacie Galaviz, a first-grade teacher at OK Elementary School, was surprised in her classroom with the Golden Apple Award from KAKE-TV. She was nominated for the award by one of her students and their parent who said Galaviz never fails to be sensitive to her students’ ever-changing needs and not only helps her students learn, but helps them succeed.
“Being nominated for the Golden Apple is a complete honor and to find out I was nominated by a student and parent makes it that much more special,” said Galaviz. “I truly believe that God has placed me exactly where I need to be in order to fulfill my passion of teaching and helping others. Being acknowledged for the impact I am making on my students is such a blessing, and I want to thank all teachers for doing what we do! I hope I can continue to build positive relationships with my students and their families and help them strive to be successful in all areas of their life!”
The Golden Apple Award winners receive a Golden Apple trophy from Davis-Moore Autogroup and $1,000 in school supplies from Project Teacher.
The winner is featured on KAKE-TV’s Monday 5 p.m. newscast.
