New teachers learn about the Wichita Public Schools
Superintendent Thompson and district leaders at New Staff Orientation
Wichita Public Schools welcomed 390 new teachers during New Staff Orientation Aug. 1-2 at Heights High School.

The two-day New Staff Orientation gives teachers an overview of the district and an opportunity to meet other new teachers before heading to their classrooms. Teachers learned about lesson designs, MTSS, CHAMPS and ACHIEVE classroom management, observed model classrooms, met their mentor teachers, learned district technology applications and received other information about the district.

Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson, BOE president Sheril Logan and other district leadership greeted the new teachers, welcoming them to the Wichita Public Schools family. She thanked them for their decision to teach in the Wichita Public Schools and said they will become an integral part in making sure our students are future ready.
