Northwest DECA students host Innovation competition 

Students in Northwest’s DECA program launched an Innovation Challenge for kindergarten through second-grade students, Innovation Rally for third through fifth-grade students and Innovation Express for middle school students to promote innovation at a young age. Innovation U partnered with the Wichita Entrepreneurship Task Force to create a competition where students created new items out of a cereal box. The competition was offered to Kindergarten – 8th grade classes throughout schools in the Wichita area.The bench students at Chisholm Trail created for Innovation U
Elementary Innovation Challenge
1st Place – Jessica Padilla- 1st grade, Chisholm Trail Elementary
2nd Place – Ashley Cavazos- Kindergarten, Cloud Elementary
3rd Place – Darcie Rudd- 1st grade, Isely Traditional Magnet

Elementary Innovation Rally
1st Place – Mark Jamison- 5th grade, White Elementary
2nd Place – Darcie Rudd- 5th grade, Isely Traditional Magnet
3rd Place – Amanda Harcus- 5th grade, Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet

Middle School Innovation Express
1st Place – Kasey Littlefield- 7th grade, Wilbur Middle School
2nd Place – Jared Hall- 7th grade, Coleman Middle School
3rd Place – Albert Herrera- 7th grade, Mayberry Middle School

This is the third year for the Innovation Rally for elementary students. It was expanded this year to encourage younger students to participate.  The groups won cash prizes.
