The Principal's Message

Good afternoon, Dodge Literacy Magnet Families! I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and doing well in these unique times. Beginning today, you will receive a message from me; I will send a new message every Thursday with the goal of keeping you informed!

1. Parent and student contact is now fully teacher-driven; Dodge teachers are engaging in extraordinary efforts to connect with and engage students by phone, email, US mail, and other means. if your child hasn’t heard from his/her teacher, please contact the school office, 973-3150, to make sure we have your current contact information. The school phone will be answered 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

2. Packets are only one resource for continuous learning; many online tools are available for students to engage with teachers and explore additional learning opportunities. Microsoft Teams is our platform for engaging students in live, interactive conversations with teachers and classmates. In addition, many online learning platforms that students are already familiar with are available for online access on this portal. Students can access all of our online resources by logging in to the student portal – (see attached document)

3. The WPS Continuous Learning: Family Guide is full of helpful information for families who want to know how to adjust to home-based learning during this crisis. The full guide is available in three languages (English, Spanish and Vietnamese) on our web site –  We've also created a resource page for parents as we move into Phase 2 of the Continuous Learning Plan. It's got great tips! Looking for ideas on how to create a space for learning in your home? Looking for online curriculum programs for reading/math that you can access at home along with directions on how to access them. Looking for a list of enrichment opportunities that you can use to augment learning at home? For all of these ideas and more, go to
4. Week 2 packets should arrive in the mail by the end of this week. The Week 3-4 combined packet will arrive early next week only to those families who have opted in to receive future packets by mail. The deadline for opt-in addresses to be added for the combined Weeks 5-6 packet will be April 23 at 3pm. The opt-in mailing address deadline for Weeks 7-8 will occur on May 7 at 3pm. Anyone who has already submitted their opt-in DOES NOT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN.
