WPS named one of the Best Communities for Music Education
The Wichita Public Schools has been named one of the 2022 Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants. The designation recognizes 738 school districts and 80 schools across 44 states that keep music education as an integral part of its curriculum.
This is the sixth time the Wichita Public Schools has received the recognition, having been honored in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2020 and 2021.
“WPS has exceptional, nationally-recognized vocal and instrumental music programs that enrich thousands of students’ lives,” said Shawn Chastain, executive coordinator of Fine Arts. “We are fortunate to have district administration and a Board of Education that values music education in our schools and continues to support it.”
More than 30,000 students are involved in the Wichita Public Schools’ music programs.
