Heights interrelated teacher receives Golden Apple Award

KAKE Golden Apple Award winner Eric Hansen Eric Hansen, an interrelated teacher at Heights High School, was surprised in his classroom with the Golden Apple Award from KAKE-TV. He was nominated for the award by a student who said Hansen is an exceptional teacher who wants to see his students succeed and goes the extra mile to make sure it happens.

“Being nominated for this award by one of my students is an incredibly humbling experience,” said Hansen. “It’s cool to be recognized because I know I’m surrounded by so many other caring and deserving individuals in our building. This student has a huge heart and to know that he sees me in that light is one of the highest compliments I could receive.”

The Golden Apple Award winners receive a Golden Apple trophy from Davis-Moore Autogroup and $1,000 in school supplies from Project Teacher.

Lane Enterprises McDonald’s Restaurants is also a program partner.

The winner is featured on KAKE-TV’s Monday 5 p.m. newscast.
