More than 340 employees, representing 70 schools and support centers were surprised with awards during Good Apple Week beginning on Dec. 7.
Due to the pandemic, the Board of Education was not able to host a ceremony to publicly thank and recognize this fall’s outstanding award recipients. Instead, principals surprised their honorees and shared their pictures and contributions on social media using the hashtag WPSProud during Good Apple Week. Superintendent Thompson also expressed her appreciation during special video messages during the week.
The Good Apple Awards program allows schools and administrative support centers to recognize employees, volunteers and school partners who go the extra mile to provide exemplary service to the district and its students. This fall, the Board celebrated the work of only WPS employees because volunteers and partners were not able to enter district buildings and engage with students.
