Senior Spotlight — Evans Chege

Dunlap Transition Campus at Chisholm graduate Evans ChegeEvans Chege obtained his graduating credits from West High School and began taking life skills classes and vocational training at Dunlap Transition Campus at Chisholm three years ago.

For the last year, he has been in the Project SEARCH program, a collaboration between the Wichita Public Schools, Sedgwick County and Via Christi, that enables young adults with disabilities to gain and maintain employment through training and career exploration during a one-year internship.

Chege did three rotations during his internship, working at the county’s historic courthouse in the print shop and the IT department and at Martin Interconnect Services.

“I liked working at the courthouse,” Chege said. “My goal is to get more training on computers and work with computers.”

In his free time, Chege enjoys watching TV and working out on an elliptical machine.
