Senior Spotlight — Manny Zapata

Levy Special Education Center graduating senior Manny ZapataManny Zapata, a graduating senior at Levy Special Education Center, has been able to experience many of the same things as typical high school students thanks to the support of Levy’s teachers and staff.

He was a member of the Levy Legends basketball team for the past four years and even earned a letter jacket. Manny says that his favorite thing about playing basketball was getting to shoot the ball.

“Manny is the embodiment of what Levy is,” said his teacher, Julia Schomacker. “Everyone loves him here. He greets everyone when he gets here in the morning and always says goodbye to everyone at the end of the day. He has really come a long way in the time he’s been here.”

A student at Levy since 2009, Manny is very proud to be graduating and can’t wait to get to wear his cap and gown.

After graduation, Manny, who lives in a Starkey group home, will continue receiving life and career skills through their program.
